Happy Friday!

So, I didn’t get to my wedding recaps this week, but don’t worry they are coming!  In exchange for my laziness, check out the print we’re giving to our parents for Christmas this year.  It’s from an after wedding session we did with the fabulous, Mary Beth Tyson.  (Yes, an after wedding session!  There’s so much to tell you!)

Have a wonderful weekend!!!

Costa Rica, Part II

Originally I was going to split up the honeymoon into three parts, but I’ve decided to combine the last two hotels into one. That way we can get to the wedding recaps that much sooner! Woo hoo!

After a week in Playa Hermosa, we traveled four hours south west to Nosara. Nosara is predominantly owned by North American hippie surfers, so there was a very relaxed vibe there. We stayed at the Harmony Hotel, which was my favorite hotel of the three.

Here’s the entrance, it was very chic and natural at the same time.

Our nice big white bed. Check out the cool orange lamps!

Look at the key, it was so cool! The glass to the right was given to us at check-in, it was green tea with lemongrass. Yumms.

There was a hammock and outdoor shower of our very own!

The first night there, we met this really awesome man from New Hampshire. He was a regular to Nosara, and he told us about a beach called Barrigonia. It is actually owned by Mel Gibson, which made me hesitant to visit, but Costa Rica has laws in place to prevent any coastal development, so the beach was deserted. We even ran into some wild horses.

One morning we woke up early to take a yoga class at the Nosara Yoga Institute. Here are the stairs to the treetops. Doesn’t it remind you of the stairs Uma Thurman climbs in Kill Bill, Vol. II?

Matthew rented a boogie board, while I had some fun taking pictures.

Afterwards, we ate lunch at the Harmony and played Jenga! I lost.

Our last night at the Harmony we had dinner and played Scrabble. Yes, we are super cool. Yes, I won.

Our third hotel was located four hours east in San Jose called Hotel Grano de Oro. It was so pretty!!!!

We ate dinner at the hotel that night, and it was amazing.

One of the best parts about Costa Rica was discovering a new way to drink beer:  with fresh lime juice and salt on the rim.  It’s believed it’s spelled, Michelada.

Here’s the hubs negotiating with a very tiny Costa Rican.  Doesn’t he look like a giant next to her?

Our last meal before we flew home.  Ahhh, the memories.

Costa Rica, Part 1

Hello!!  My apologies for being so absent lately. I hate to admit it, but things have been moving slowly for me lately. I haven’t had the desire to blog, I know it’s shameful to admit, but true. It wasn’t until Sunday night, that I started to feel that urge to share with my dear friends again! I had read about the rumors, the post-wedding blues, and thought I would never fall victim to something that crazy. I suppose that the wedding filled up such a huge part of my life, that now I find all the free time to be…stifling.

However, I see the light at the end of the tunnel now. The fog is starting to lift and I’m feeling energetic and extremely elated to be a newlywed. A few nights ago, the Hubs and I went to Starbucks and played scrabble. Later we watched Love Actually with a bottle of red and devoured a fruit & cheese basket my cousin had sent to us. Marriage is bliss. :)

Okay, on to the honeymoon recaps so that we can get to the good stuff (WEDDING RECAPS)!

The first week was spent in Playa Hermosa. We were staying in a 2 bedroom villa with views of the Pacific Ocean. It was quite amazing.  Let’s just get to the pictures, shall we?

Here we are at Miami International in our cool shirts.  More on those later.

After four hours of driving, the Pacific Coast was right in front of us!

In the first ten minutes of seeing our villa, I’m taking pictures for you guys.  What is the hubs doing?  He’s watching CNN.

Here’s our view from the living room.  Not too shabby, eh?

Here’s our little SUV that could.  Yes, Matt is bigger than our Suzuki Jimny.

About to zip through some canopies!

Later that day, at the Mud Springs.

The dark sand beach was really nice, but this was my favorite.  Fresh ceviche.

And raw oysters, right out of the ocean.

I did a lot of this – laying.

I dedicate our honeymoon to Victoria, our British speaking guide.  She always protected us.

Back tomorrow with more!  Anyone else venturing to Costa Rica for their honeymoon?!?!

Locks of Love

Well, like Mrs. Cherry Pie, I went ahead and did it. Oh yes, that’s right. I joined the Post Bride Hair Chopping Club! I’ve always planned to cut my hair after the wedding, not because I hated my long hair but because it was just time. Now, it takes only 10 minutes to complete my new do for work, and I’m looking mighty professional, to boot!

Here’s the before picture, pardon the quality of my crackberry.

I was able to donate a full 10 inches of hair to Locks of Love.  For those brides growing out their hair, please consider this when joining the post wedding chop club, too!

Here’s a crappy after (again, pardon the crackberry), Exhibit #1 of my new professional look:

That day, I skipped kickboxing to hang out with my sister.  Guess what?  She also got a hair cut.  Here’s the family on Thanksgiving:

What was my reaction to her haircut?

I loved it!  We definitely look like sisters now!  (Like it was a mystery before!!)  And, I just had to put this one in here from lastnight.  The hubs and I went to see Twilight and it’s Exhibit #2 that my new haircut also gives me a feisty edge, don’t ya think?!?

Yay for post-wedding chops!  Who else has joined da club?!

A Tiny Bit of Organization is Exciting!

I hope everyone had a very happy Thanksgiving weekend! I’m starting to feel normal again after all the wedding hoopla, and I’m ready to blog! First up, some after pictures of our tiny apartment. (We’ve actually started discussing renting a larger place, so this may have all been for naught. Oh well, ya gotta roll wit da punches.)

After:

Before, lots of boxes and unusable desk:

After, still lots of boxes, but with shelves:

Picture of our wedding poster and engagement picture (with our $300 couch from Salvation Army):

Picture of our wedding sign:

There are two wedding gifts in this picture.  One of our lamps from Pottery Barn (we have two of them) and an HP Digital Photo Frame:

It’s nicer to come home, but there’s still much organizing left to do.  Maybe we’re on a 2 month plan to get the place back in shape? That is before we decide to pick up and move again!  How long did it take you to get your place back into shape?!??!

Settling into Married Life!

Hey you guys!! The hubs and I are back from Costa Rica! We had an amazing time and I can’t wait to share all of the pictures with you!

Settling back into normal life sure is hectic though.  I have a ton more time on my hands, but what I do with it? I sleep. I cook. I sleep. Sometimes I go to work. Occasionally I shower. It’s a rough world, ain’t it? No, seriously though married life is splendid because I no longer have to come home and check off a massive to-do list. That’s probably my favorite thing about being married!

The first task for the Excited Newlyweds? Clean up our tiny apartment! While we save up to buy a house, we’re stuck living in a very small space, so the hubs and I expended a little money to spruce it up a bit. I’ll post the “after” pictures later this week. In the meantime, here’s what the place looked like before:

The window is awful.  I’m going to sew some curtains very soon!

I’ll be back soon with a honeymoon recap!  Hopefully we’ll have our professional pictures in the next couple weeks!  I’ll also have an Exciting announcement in the next week or so, be on the lookout!

We’re married!

Hello ladies!!! I’m blogging from Costa Rica! I can’t stay long, but just wanted to say that our wedding was so much fun and our honeymoon has been a blast so far! I’ll be back with a full review of our amazing day in the next week or so! Don’t forget about me! In the meantime, our fabulous photographer, Jason Angelini has posted a few teaser photos!

Farewell to Misses.

Earlier this week, the fiance and I trekked down to the clerk’s office for our marriage license! The process was easy and painless, but also a little nerve wracking! (In a good way though!)

I’ll be busy from here on out with last minute errands and hosting family and friends, so this will likely be my last post as a Misses. I feel greatly indebted to everyone who has followed my plans and encouraged my creativity. To the fellow brides-to-be: don’t sweat the small stuff and smile as much as possible.

xoxo,

an Excited bride.

See ya on the flip side!
